Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay On The Budget Extender Passed Today

“Twelve days late and counting. Apparently, an on-time budget is simply optional for the Majority, because once again, here we are passing another extender with no end in sight. I wish I could say the lack of urgency from Albany’s ‘Three-Majority-in-a-room’ is surprising. And for a $233 billion budget deal, you’d think we’d have a bit more transparency from a governor who swore by it.

Poll after poll indicates New Yorkers are concerned with three things: the cost of living, crime and the migrant issue. Yet, it is abundantly clear from the bits of news that have leaked to the press that Albany’s top Majority leaders are not willing to prioritize these issues in the final state budget plan. A state spending plan that fails to include legislative solutions to the issues most pressing to New Yorkers should be rejected.”
