Statement From Speaker Silver
Regarding The World Trade Center Progress

I am concerned that the path outlined by the Governor today will result in yet another standstill at the World Trade Center site and many more years of delay.

The World Trade Center is not merely another project to be pitted against other priorities, but rather a symbol to the world of our faith in our city, in this community and our commitment to rebuild after the worst terrorist attack on American soil in our nation's history.

For the nearly eight years since the attacks I have worked to return Lower Manhattan to its place as the third largest central business district in the nation and to build a more vibrant, 24/7, mixed-use community that is better and brighter than ever before.

The path suggested by the Governor will not get us there.
