Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Titus Statement on Passage of 2015 Women's History Month Resolution

In keeping with New York's tradition of recognizing the unique and bountiful contributions of women throughout our history, yesterday the Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming March 2015 Women's History Month in the State of New York.

"We in the Assembly Majority have always celebrated the irreplaceable role women of in our families and communities. With the adoption of this resolution we continue to voice our unwavering support for women across the state of New York and the issues affecting them and their families. We have a moral duty to ensure that all of our citizens enjoy the same civil rights and protections and that is why the Assembly Majority has championed issues like Pay Equity, Reproductive Freedom and Paid Family Leave. It is why we passed an Assembly budget proposal for SFY 2015-16 that puts Families First and empowers women to enjoy the same rights, wages, and privileges that are afforded to every other New Yorker. We will continue to uphold these principles on behalf of the millions of women whose contributions and sacrifices have made this state a nationwide leader for women's equality and justice."
