TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the election law, in relation to the consolidation of
certain election districts in the county of Westchester
 
PURPOSE:
Authorizes the Westchester County board of elections to merge any
election district with 50 or fewer registered voters into an existing
election district,
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 4100 of the election law is amended by adding a new subdivision
2-a.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The Board of Elections of Westchester County may merge any election
district with fifty or fewer registered voters into an existing election
district as long as both districts are within the same town, city or
village, and the same assembly, senatorial and congressional district.
No consolidated election district created shall exceed the total number
of combined weighted voters, excluding registrants in active status.
This proposal will have a substantial cost saving measure for the muni-
cipalities within Westchester County.

AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to the consolidation of
certain election districts in the county of Westchester
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 4-100 of the election law is amended by adding a
2 new subdivision 2-a to read as follows:
3 2-a. Notwithstanding any provision of subdivision two of this section
4 to the contrary, the board of elections of the county of Westchester may
5 merge any election district with fifty or fewer registered voters into
6 an existing election district so long as both such districts are within
7 the same ward, town, city or village, and the same county legislative,
8 assembly, senatorial and congressional district. Furthermore, no consol-
9 idated election district created pursuant to this subdivision shall
10 exceed the total number of registered voters, excluding registrants in
11 inactive status, exceed the maximum number permitted by this section.
12 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
