TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 62 of the laws of 2015 amending the tax law
relating to the imposition of an occupancy tax in the city of Yonkers,
in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL::
Extends the effectiveness of an occupancy tax imposed in the City of
Yonkers. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Amends Chapter,I12 of the Laws
of 2018 extending the sunset from September 1, 2024 to September 1,
2027.
 
JUSTIFICATION::
The City of Yonkers occupancy tax currently is scheduled to sunset on -
September 1, 2024. In order for the City to continue generating revenue
the sunset must be extended. Revenues from the additional tax assists
the City of Yonkers in providing essential services, while maintaining a
balanced budget.

AN ACT to amend chapter 62 of the laws of 2015 amending the tax law
relating to the imposition of an occupancy tax in the city of Yonkers,
in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 62 of the laws of 2015 amending the
2 tax law relating to the imposition of an occupancy tax in the city of
3 Yonkers, as amended by chapter 224 of the laws of 2021, is amended to
4 read as follows:
5 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
6 deemed repealed September 1, [2024] 2027.
7 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

[] is old law to be omitted.
