Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) today announced that the Wantagh State Parkway between Ocean Parkway and Northern State Parkway will receive a facelift in the form of pavement resurfacing, drainage upgrades, curb ramps and other improvements, with construction expected to end in the summer of 2018.

“I am pleased to hear that long-awaited repairs are coming to a large stretch of the Wantagh State Parkway,” McDonough said. “Long Island’s heavy flow of traffic and intense winter storms wreak havoc on our highways, and it is paramount that we receive our fair share of funding to maintain our infrastructure. Residents and businesses that use this route frequently have driven under dangerous conditions for years, and I am proud to have brought attention to this issue with state leaders and members of the Department of Transportation.”

The announcement comes mere days after McDonough, Ranking Minority member on the Assembly’s Transportation Committee, spoke about the dangerous condition of the parkway at a Joint Budget Hearing on Transportation in Albany.
