Pheffer Amato Passes First Bill of Freshman Assembly Class to Make Information More Accessible to NYS Veterans

Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato today won her first legislative victory, and became the first Freshman Assemblyperson of 2017 to pass legislation, as the New York State Assembly unanimously approved A.5165, a bill to make online information more accessible to NYS Veterans. Pheffer Amato said, “I appreciate so much Speaker Carl Heastie, the Assembly leadership, and the Veterans I’ve been privileged to work with in my community for many years.

"This bill makes it easier for Veterans and their loved ones, caretakers and community to get access to services throughout New York State,” she continued. “It requires the contact information for each Veterans' Home to be placed on the website of the Division of Veterans' Affairs. Previously, the website only provided contact information for veteran service-linked offices and United States Department of Veterans' Affairs Medical Centers.

“As State and Federal governments move to streamline services so we can improve response times and quality of service for those who have sacrificed so much, I am proud to support this modest but crucial step in the right direction,” Pheffer Amato continued. “I look forward to leading on Veterans' issues by doing everything in my power to improve the services we offer as a state to all vets, and to improve access to those services already in place."
