This past Sunday, June 11th, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Ozone Park) helped dedicate the John Adams High School playground in honor of the late City Councilmember Al Stabile. Stabile, a Vietnam War Veteran, served two terms on the City Council from 1993 – 2001. Prior to his run, he was a proud sanitation worker and founded Angels on the Bay, which raises money to help children with chronic or terminal diseases. Stabile also helped recover unused government land at no cost to taxpayers, converting it into a baseball field at a time when green space for South Queens children was sparse.

“I know Al’s dedication to the community and work ethic have been an inspiration for me, and I think his example is a great one for our children who will grow up going to this playground,” Pheffer Amato continued. “If our kids follow Al’s example, we’ll have a community full of leaders.”
