Rozic Teams Up with NY Knicks to Host Youth Basketball Clinics at P.S. 120

Partnership with Madison Square Garden promotes physical fitness and engages youth in NYC schools

Flushing, NY – Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) partnered with Madison Square Garden and the New York Knicks on Thursday to offer free basketball clinics at P.S. 120. More than 40 students were able to hone their skills with former Knicks forward John Wallace in the clinics run by the club’s Fan Development team.

“I am proud to team up with Madison Square Garden and the NY Knicks to bring free basketball clinics to P.S. 120 so that students can further their learning and development inside and outside the classroom. As we strive to increase learning opportunities for children across the community, diverse team-based extracurricular programs must become an integral investment,” said Rozic.

The Madison Square Garden Company said: “Thank you to Assemblywoman Nily Rozic for helping organize the Junior Knicks basketball clinic at PS 120 in Queens. It was great to see so many kids enjoying the sport and having the opportunity to meet and learn from Knicks alumni John Wallace. Through our Junior Knicks initiatives, we’re excited to bring events and programs like this to kids across the Tri-State.”

“The MSG basketball clinic was an amazing event which brought the excitement of the world’s premier professional sports team, the New York Knicks, along with former NBA star, John Wallace, to our students at P.S. 120Q. Assemblywoman Rozic, who knows the needs of our school as well as I do, set this clinic up so that the start of our P.S. 120Q Dragons basketball season would kick off with enthusiasm and set the tone for fun and skills based practice. I recommend this clinic unconditionally and hope to have MSG visit us again soon,” said P.S. 120 Principal Robert Marino.

This basketball clinic follows a series of three soccer clinics that Rozic offered last year together with the New York Cosmos. The soccer clinics were provided in an effort to highlight the importance of promoting physical education in New York City schools. These partnerships serve the local school community and aim to bridge the gap created by the lack of physical and arts-based education that our schools need.
