Rozic Appointed Chair of Task Force on Women’s Issues

Albany, NY – Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) announced today her appointment to serve as Chair of the State Assembly’s Task Force on Women’s Issues. The announcement comes as lawmakers return to Albany to commence the 241st legislative session.

Rozic is currently serving her third term representing the 25th Assembly District. At the time of her election, she became the youngest women elected to the State Legislature and the first woman to represent the 25th Assembly District.

Over the years, Rozic has authored and passed legislation addressing women in the workplace, domestic violence, women’s conditions in correctional facilities, access to healthcare, and sexual harassment. This past year, legislation she passed to create equity in rehabilitative programming for women inmates was signed into law. Most recently, she announced legislation to protect models in the fashion industry from sexual and other forms of harassment.

Rozic represents the communities of Flushing, Queensboro Hill, Hillcrest, Fresh Meadows, Oakland Gardens, Bayside, and Douglaston. She serves on the State Assembly’s Ways & Means, Labor, Environmental Conservation, Correction, and Corporations, Authorities and Commissions Committees.
