Shipping Restrictions in Puerto Rico

September 27, 2017

After the Trump Administration announced today that there was no need to waive shipping restrictions to send fuel and supplies to Puerto Rico, Assistant Speaker Felix W. Ortiz (D-Kings) asked the White House to reverse its position.

“The White House needs to be more compassionate and understand the dire need for supplies, food and other essential material so people can get back to leading as close to normal lives as possible.” said Ortiz. “Puerto Rico has sent more personnel to protect Americans when help was needed on the mainland. Now it’s time to help our own people survive.”

Ortiz has also asked the nation’s airlines to waive or lower baggage fees so travelers to the island can help being supplies.
