Assemblymember Steck Secures Funding for Colonie Town Park and Camp Colonie

Assemblymember Phil Steck (D-Colonie) announced that he secured $125,000 in funding for the Colonie Town Park to expand the park’s pavilion and build an adaptive playground for Camp Colonie.

“Colonie Town Park is an invaluable community resource and by expanding the pavilion we’ll be able to host bigger and better events,” said Steck. “Camp Colonie, which relies on park facilities, is a wonderful, integrative experience that works with area school districts, and I’m proud to do my part to help the camp thrive.”

Founded in 1999, Camp Colonie is a state-certified “School Without Walls” program operated by Easter Seals New York and offers a program for children and young adults of all abilities. This one-of-a-kind program works closely with local schools to provide an educationally immersive experience for children with physical, developmental or emotional disabilities and their peers.

The funding will allow for the construction of a larger pavilion, allowing space for more campers and additional shelter during summer thunderstorms, noted Steck.
