Assemblymember Jones: Airport Award to Create Jobs and Economic Success

“Gov. Cuomo announced, today, that the Plattsburgh International Airport would receive $38 million through the Upstate Airport Economic Development Competition. This award will allow for a total retransformation of the former Air Force base into a state-of-the-art facility and is estimated to create over several hundred construction jobs and 60 permanent airport jobs which will undoubtedly shape the economic development and success of our region.

“The collaborative work between Clinton County officials, the North Country Chamber of Commerce and the Development Corporation helped to ensure this award and their efforts should be applauded. Their tireless work to demonstrate the potential that the North Country has to offer is without a doubt why the Governor selected the Plattsburgh International Airport as an award recipient.”

“I strongly believe that the North Country is a place that holds endless opportunities and with this award it is clear that through collaboration and hard work; together we can create good paying jobs for residents of the North Country while simultaneously creating economic prosperity for the region. Again, congratulations to all those involved in this tremendous project and I look forward to working with them and hope to help in any way possible to ensure that the airport continues to grow into a strong and vital establishment.”
