Assemblyman Jones: Governor’s Veto Hurts Rural Hospitals

“At a time when the federal administration is making devastating cuts to health care, it’s disheartening that Gov. Cuomo vetoed critical legislation I co-sponsored to create an enhanced safety-net hospital program (A.7763). The measure would have helped more hospitals receive state funding so they could better care for low-income and uninsured New Yorkers.

“Safety-net hospitals provide much-needed care to vulnerable New Yorkers and underserved communities. For many families in the North Country and across the state, these hospitals are the only health care provider available. This fight doesn’t stop with the governor’s veto. I’ll keep working to make sure that North Country hospitals have the resources they need to help our communities and provide quality care to those who need it most.”
