Barclay Meets With Local Town Leaders

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,Iā€”Pulaski) recently met with town and highway supervisors from Constantia, West Monroe, and Hastings to discuss state issues that affect localities. Barclay talked about the state budget, local projects, and Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs) which affects budgets for all localities. Funding for CHIPs increased in the 2013-14 budget by $75 million, for a total of $438 million. Barclay fought for the increase in Albany. This is the first time the state has increased funding for CHIPs in 5 years. Pictured from left are Barclay, Trudy Bush, secretary to supervisor for the Town of Hastings, and Jim Weatherup, Town of Hastings supervisor and recently-appointed county legislator. Barclay also met with Town of Constantia Supervisor Charles Gilkey, Town of West Monroe Supervisor John Messere, and County Legislator John Martino who represents West Monroe, as well as highway supervisor Randy Shaw.
