Barclay Presents WWII Vet with Assembly Resolution

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I--Pulaski) recently presented WWII Veteran Laurence "Sparky" Rector with an Assembly Resolution on May 14. Mr. Rector’s story was recorded and filed with the Library of Congress after Joe Messineo, a volunteer with the Veterans History Project worked together with cameraman Dick Calagiovanni to ensure his story is preserved as part of our nation’s history. The two-hour video can be found here: https://vimeo.com/152095892. Mr. Rector tells his journey from boot camp to Africa and then up through Sicily, the Italian mainland, and the liberation of Dachau. Mr. Barclay’s resolution was adopted by the State Assembly in March. Upon presenting a copy of the resolution to Mr. Rector, Mr. Barclay said he was pleased to meet Mr. Rector and thanked him for his brave service to our country.
