Friend: No More Games, Sign the WEA Governor

A statement by Assemblyman Christopher S. Friend (R,C,I-Big Flats)

The report that Gov. Cuomo has yet to sign the Women’s Equality Agenda bills that were passed overwhelmingly by the Assembly and Senate because he’s waiting for “the best and most appropriate time to sign them” is deeply disturbing. These bills should have been signed immediately following their passage by the Legislature. This governor turns everything into a political game. It isn’t enough for these bills to have passed, and passed unanimously, he needs to have the perfect photo-op as well. The women of New York have waited too long for these protections, and they shouldn’t have to wait another day. The best and most appropriate time to sign these bills was the day they were passed. The best and most appropriate time to sign these bills now is today. No more waiting, and no more games. Sign the bills.
