Assemblymember Hunter: Assembly Budget Provides $300 Million for Water and Sewer Infrastructure Upgrades

“Municipalities all across New York have been struggling to deal with aging water and sewer infrastructure. Here in Central New York, Syracuse – which has an over 100-year-old water system – suffers water main breaks on an average of more than one per day. Our Assembly budget provides $300 million over two years for upgrades to local water and sewer infrastructure through grants to local governments.

“It is our responsibility to make sure that our communities and our families have access to safe drinking water and that our wastewater infrastructure is repaired when needed. The additional funding provided by the Assembly would help fix these outdated water systems and invest in our community’s future.”
