Hawley Encourages Local Veterans to Attend 10th Annual Patriot Trip

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia) would like to remind veterans in his district of his upcoming 10th Annual Patriot Trip to Washington D.C., which will take place from September 21 through September 24, 2017. With a total of over 100 veterans and family members in attendance in 2016, he is encouraging veterans to sign up before all spots have been filled. The trip is an opportunity to spend time and share stories with the dedicated men and women who have fought for our nation. A longtime supporter of veterans, Hawley has served with the Ohio Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves. He has been part of the Assembly Veterans’ Affairs Committee for the past 11 years.

The trip is open to all interested veterans. The approximate cost of the trip is $375, which includes meals, transportation and admission to the memorials.

“I am blessed to have another opportunity to spend time with local veterans paying our respect to those who sacrificed their lives for our nation,” said Hawley. “Even though this is our 10th trip to Washington D.C., I still look forward, each year, to visiting the memorials and monuments that exemplify the bravery and courage of our nation’s armed forces. The trip also brings back memories of visiting similar sites with my father, who served honorably in World War Two. This trip came to be after another World War Two veteran, Mike Paduchuck, requested that I sponsor the trip after I was elected to the Assembly. I hope to continue to host the Patriot Trip for many years to come as a way to give back to our veterans.”

Attractions Hawley plans to visit this year on the trip include:

White House

WWII Memorial

Gettysburg Memorial

Korean War Memorial

Vietnam War Memorial

Iwo Jima – The Marine Corps Memorial

American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial

Air Force Memorial

911 Memorial at the Pentagon

Arlington National Cemetery, including the Changing of the Guard

Wreath Laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns – Vietnam Veterans

Those who are interested in a possible trip to the White House must call Assemblyman Hawley’s District Office by July 10 at 585-589-5780 to provide additional information.
