Norris Rallies To “Be Fair To Direct Care”

A Statement from Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,I-Lockport)

The developmentally disabled, elderly and homebound need and deserve the best possible care, and without a wage increase for direct care workers the state is making it harder for our most vulnerable citizens to find and keep the help they need. When wages for fast food workers are outpacing those for direct care workers, it signals a disconnect between the government that sets those wages and the people. This budget is an opportunity for Albany to correct this discrepancy, and provide a more liveable wage for direct care workers to help ensure our state’s more vulnerable citizens have the best care available to them.
