Area Legislators Meet With Young Advocates for a Tobacco-Free New York

This week, Assemblymen Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning), Joe Errigo (R,C,I,Ref-Conesus) Joe Giglio (R,C,I-Gowanda) and Chris Friend (R,C,I-Big Flats) met with local young people from the advocacy group Reality Check, an organization dedicated to promoting a tobacco-free New York.

“These kids are motivated, and they’re doing great work. They’re on the front lines of public health, and it was a pleasure to meet them,” said the legislators.

The group included students from Seneca, Steuben, Schuyler and Chemung Counties. The coordinators are Sunnie Smith and Sarah Robbins. The students pictured are Lee Dennery and Jahleeah Dennery from Elmira High School and Krissi and Cheyenne Elliot from Corning Painted Post Middle School and Corning Painted Post High School.
