100th Assembly District Municipalities to Receive Over $500,000 in Extreme Weather Recovery Funding

Sullivan and Orange Counties to receive over $400,000

Albany, NY – Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther (D,I,WF-Forestburgh) announced today that local municipalities in her Assembly District will be receiving over $500,000 for road repairs and infrastructure improvements from New York State. Sullivan and Orange Counties will also be receiving over $400,000 combined.

Allocated in accordance with existing formulas for local transportation aid, also known as Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding, these one-time grants were included in the 2014-2015 budget in addition to the $438 million in existing CHIPS funding.

“This particularly harsh winter has left our local roads and bridges in horrible condition and local governments short on resources to repair them,” said Assemblywoman Gunther. “Just today, I got a flat tire after hitting a pot hole. This funding is critical to providing relief to struggling municipalities and frustrated motorists.”
