Assemblyman Graf Comments On Governor’s 2016 State Of The State

January 13, 2016

“After listening to Gov. Cuomo’s proposals, it is clear we have a lot of work to do this year, and his priorities do not line up with ours. The following are some of the top priorities I will be working on during the coming session:

  • Fully restoring the Gap Elimination Adjustment this year;
  • Instead of providing a college education to convicted felons, we need to make higher education more affordable for law-abiding, working families;
  • Faced with a projected increase in the opt-out movement this year, the legislature must switch the focus of education toward an enriched, home-grown curriculum that takes into consideration students’ individual needs;
  • We also must create a general diploma for children who will not be entering college and prefer to enter the trades;
  • Ethics reform must be a priority for the state;
  • Lastly, the legislature must effectively deal with the heroin epidemic that is destroying families and leading to an increase in crime.

“This is a partial list of the things we will be fighting for during this legislative session.”
