Graf: Increase CHIPS Funding For 2017
Legislators, local highway superintendents, and workers gather in the well of the Legislative Office Building in Albany to support greater investment in CHIPS funding for 2017
Assemblyman Al Graf (R,C,I,Ref-Holbrook) showed his support for Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding last week at a press conference held by Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) and many of his colleagues from both sides of the aisle. The Assembly Minority is calling for an increase of $150 million in funding for CHIPS in the fast-approaching 2017 budget.
“Increasing funding to help ensure our roads and bridges are safe and properly maintained is something that can gain bi-partisan support,” said Graf. “This is about public safety and giving our local municipalities the proper resources to make sure our roads are safe and up to date. This year we are calling for an increase of $150 million in CHIPS funding in the 2017 budget. As we continue our budget negotiations this month, securing this money is among my top priorities.”
