Garbarino Collecting Items For Easter And Passover Baskets For Children In Crisis

February 21, 2018

Assemblyman Andrew Garbarino (R,C,I,Ref-Sayville) will be collecting baskets to give to children in need for the Easter and Passover holidays from now until Friday, March 16. The baskets will be distributed by the assemblyman and the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS), a family violence and rape crisis organization. Baskets will be given to the children of families within the care of the organization.

“Children and families in crisis have had their lives uprooted and I would like to give these kids an opportunity to have a happy Easter or Passover,” said Garbarino. “I am proud to partner with the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk to help show these children that their community cares for them.”

Garbarino’s district office will be collecting the following items:

  • Easter/Passover baskets;
  • Bags of candy;
  • Chocolate bunnies;
  • Small books or toys; and
  • Practical life necessities, such as hygienic products and household items.

The items may be dropped off at the district office, which is located at 859 Montauk Highway, Suite 1, Bayport, NY 11705 until Friday, March 16. Constituents may call 631-589-0348 or email with any questions.

VIBS is an organization dedicated to helping people and families with children who are in crisis. Their 24/7 hotline is 631-360-3606. The hotline can provide telephone counseling, information, referrals and access to Emergency Room Companions and SANE centers. Garbarino encourages those in crisis to reach out to this organization for help so they may get proper services and don’t have to suffer in silence.

Other volunteer opportunities can be found at the VIBS Web site.
