Curran Blasts Waste of Taxpayer Dollars

Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) voiced his displeasure at reports of over 70,000 meals meant for migrants being thrown away and wasted. The meals are provided by DocGo, a company that won a no-bid, $432 million contract from the city. The reports state that over just a few weeks over 70,000 meals were thrown away, which cost the taxpayers $776,000 over that time period. Curran says things must change and taxpayer dollars should not be wasted.

“The people of New York deserve to have their tax dollars spent in a meaningful way. Right now, unfortunately, they are quite literally being thrown away. We know all of our state is facing a hunger and homelessness epidemic, and it is absolutely insulting public funds are being used to buy migrants food that is being thrown away, rather than being used to feed actual citizens of New York who have fallen on hard times and need support, especially during the holiday season,” said Curran.
