Miller Says Parents Should Know Their Right To Opt Children Out Of Over Testing

A statement from Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,I-New Hartford)

“With New York State testing in full swing in our schools, I would like to remind parents that they have the right to opt their children out of state testing. For the last few years, parents have begun to voice concerns with the toll that excessive, unnecessary state testing is taking on their children by opting out. For the last two years, nearly 20 percent of parents have chosen this route to protect their children and send a message to the governor that ‘enough is enough.’ It is clear that action is needed by the state Legislature to address this pressing issue. I assure the parents of our district that their voices have been heard and that I will continue the fight to protect our students. The more noise you make on this issue, the less the governor and the Assembly Majority can ignore you. I am in your corner.”
