Crouch Announces New York State Corrections Officer Recruitment Effort
Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch (R-Bainbridge) announced today that the New York State Department of Corrections will be holding a recruitment effort push in the coming months. Under the auspices of the New York State Department of Civil Service, a test will be held on February 3, 2018, with a filing deadline for the exam of December 13, 2017.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a correctional officer,” said Crouch. “Securing a position as a correctional officer is an excellent career choice which offers a good salary as well as providing the unique ability to serve your community. I strongly encourage anyone interested to apply for the test.”
Correction officer trainees have a starting salary of $40,590 per year, with an increase to $42,695 after six months. After completing a one-year correction officer traineeship, the salary then increases to $48,889 per year.
