Crouch Announces Two Southern Tier Farms to Receive Funding In Statewide Push to Bolster Farmers
Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch (R-Bainbridge) announced today that two Southern Tier farms in the 122nd Assembly District will receive state funding to support new and veteran farmers. Lilley Farms, LLC in Chenango County was awarded $47,589 through the New Farmers Grant Fund to help assist in building and equipping a livestock barn and purchase field equipment to expand the farm's herd and increase sales. Robert Gary Lobdell of Chenango County was awarded $50,000 through the Veterans Farmer Grant Fund to build and equip a new livestock barn, renovate an existing barn, purchase field equipment and install fencing to expand his beef production operation.
The funding is part of a greater statewide push that this year alone has awarded over $1 million to farmers around the state. The New Farmers Grant Fund is designed to assist new early-stage farms while the Veterans Farmer Grant Fund helps our local farmers who are also military veterans.
I am very excited to announce that these two local farms in the Southern Tier are receiving funding, said Crouch. As a former dairy farmer myself, I know first-hand the hard work and dedication that our farmers put in day in and day out. Farms are a major driving force and contributor to local economies here in Southern Tier and all of Upstate New York, ensuring their success will benefit our state as a whole. I want to congratulate our two local recipients and all the recipients of these two grants, I hope these funds will help bring prosperity to you and your families.
