Assemblyman Dan Stec (R,C,I-Queensbury) stood before his colleagues today and presented an ethics reform measure that would require a bill or resolution to be brought to the floor if at least 76 members or the majority of Assembly members support the measure. This reform is also known as the Spirit of 76 Bill. “Every year we present the Spirit of 76 Bill and other rules reform measures to the Assembly Majority and every year they are voted down,” said Stec. “This change is not anything controversial, in reality it is a measure that will allow the Chamber to run in a much more equitable and representative manner and bring legislation to the floor that the majority of members support. I think this is a great change, and I am very proud to present this to the chamber. I hope sometime soon the Assembly Majority will accept this rules change and see the value in this good-government measure.”
