Cuomo’s Political Grandstanding Costing State $14 Million

A statement by Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) on the federal government withholding $14 million in highway funding

“At last the governor’s constant jabs at the White House and President Trump have come back to bite us all. The federal government is withholding $14 million in highway support from us because Gov. Cuomo refuses to take down his precious ‘I Love NY’ signs.

“These signs are illegal and the governor knew they were illegal but he kept them up anyway. But then he gets even more irresponsible - he expected the federal government to pay up anyway! Now that they’re not he’s ‘thinking’ about changing them but taking no action, leaving us to pick up the bill. It’s an absolute farce and it’s time the signs were taken down so we can comply with the law. Not to mention we’ll get $14 million for the state’s highways, sounds like a good deal to me.”
