Murray Encourages Long Islanders to Give the Gift of Life
Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue) is proud to announce his annual blood drive in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services on August 1. The Blood Drive will take place at the Medford Ambulance Corporation, 1005 Sipp Ave. in Medford, NY between 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Donors are advised to eat well and make sure they are properly hydrated before giving blood.
“Just one unit of blood can save up to three lives,” said Murray. “And a healthy body regenerates that one unit of blood after just 24 hours. While barely 1 in 10 people take the time to donate, I am optimistic that we can change those statistics during this year’s blood drive. I know that New Yorkers are strong, caring people who take care of their own. So I encourage all eligible donors in the 3rd Assembly District to partake in this year’s drive and together, save the lives of three times the number of participants.”
“The New York Blood Center is still in a shortage and struggling to collect enough blood to meet the demand of the 200 hospitals we currently supply. We are strongly encouraging the public and all qualifying donors to support this great cause on August 1. In addition to donors knowing they have helped saved lives there will be raffle for all donors for two tickets to Adventureland and we look forward to seeing everyone there,” said a representative from Long Island Blood Services.
