Murray Issues Statement On Free Tablets For Prisoners
“While middle-class families continue to suffer under the nation’s highest taxes, life in New York keeps getting better for criminals and illegal aliens."
“The decision by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) to allow inmates to be provided free tablets is a slap in the face and an insult to every hard-working, law-abiding, tax-paying family across New York State that struggles to provide these same tablets and other school supplies for their children.
“We pay the highest school taxes in the nation, and yet families, and even teachers, many times end up paying out of their own pockets to make sure the schoolchildren of New York State have crayons, markers, calculators and other supplies. So if the state is going to negotiate with vendors to provide "free" tablets, shouldn't we start with those who deserve it the most and where it will do the most good?"
“The message from the Cuomo administration is becoming more and more clear, ‘If you are a law-abiding, tax paying, legal, middle class family in New York State, you have to find a way to pay for your own K-12 education, healthcare, college, etc. However, if you have broken the law or come to this country/state illegally, those same struggling, law-abiding, tax-paying, legal residents will pick up the tab for your K-12 education, healthcare, college, etc - …’
It's time for New York to STOP rewarding lawbreakers and START helping the forgotten, law-abiding, middle class.”
