“The ideas put forth by the governor in today's budget proposal are a good starting point as we begin the budget process. I was encouraged as the governor outlined his proposal for much needed tax relief for homeowners and businesses. It was also promising to hear him propose a state-wide fully funded Universal Pre-K program which will give all of our children a better start. However, we must ensure that the costs of these important programs do not fall on our cash strapped local governments. We must do all that we can to lessen burdensome mandates on our municipalities and school districts.”
