Assemblymember Barrett to Host Third Public Energy Forum

Central Hudson, NYISO, and RUPCO to answer ratepayer questions

Assemblymember Didi Barrett (D-Hudson) announced that in response to concerns from Hudson Valley residents about rising energy rates, a new capacity zone, and the energy highway she will host the third in a series of public energy meetings in the Town of Poughkeepsie. “The harshness of this past winter was a cold wake up call, whether its rising rates or the capacity zone, energy concerns have been on everyone’s mind,” said Assemblymember Barrett. “I am hosting this forum so that residents can get an answer to the question they ask themselves every time they open their monthly energy bill – why am I paying so much?” Assemblymember Barrett invited representatives from Central Hudson, Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO), a NYSERDA contractor, and New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) to review the causes and sources of recent energy cost increases, including the capacity zone, as well as, available assistance programs to help save money on energy bills.
