On June 29, 2016, Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein (D-Bayside) hosted a Senior Health and Wellness Forum at Selfhelp Clearview Senior Center in Bay Terrace. 250 people attended Assemblyman Braunstein’s forum, which included a free lunch, and featured guest speakers Ann-Margaret Carrozza, Esq. and Dr. William Duke. In addition, participants at the forum included Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli’s Office of Unclaimed Funds; Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation; AgeWell New York; Kinray, a Cardinal Health Company; Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc.; the NYC Department of Finance; and Northwell Health's Division of Geriatric and Pallative Medicine. The Queens County Dental Society provided free dental hygiene products for the attendees. At the forum, Assemblyman Braunstein presented Selfhelp Clearview Senior Center with a $500,000 grant for upgrades to the building’s lobby, auditorium, for heating improvement, as well as for a new handicapped accessible walkway. Last year, the New York City Board of Elections announced that the location could no longer be used as a poll site due to the slope of the walkway in front of the building. Assemblyman Braunstein will call on the Board of Elections to make the location a poll site again once the new walkway is completed.
