Ra Reacts To Reports Of Barclays, Islanders Split

Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) released the following statement with regard to reports that the Barclays Center will be terminating its lease with the Islanders after the 2018-19 season:

“For the past two seasons, during which the Islanders have skated in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, it has been clear that the team’s heart and the fan base remained here in Nassau County. As rumors have swirled regarding their future, Islanders fans have dreamed of a homecoming. Along with tens of thousands of other fans, I have great lifelong memories of attending Islanders games with my friends and family.

“I believe now is the time for all parties to come together and work toward a solution to bring our Islanders back home to Nassau County. I stand ready to work in my capacity as an Assemblyman with Mr. Ledecky, Mr. Malkin and the National Hockey League to assist in securing a future for the Islanders in Nassau County. Together, we can build a future filled with more hometown Islanders memories for generations to come.”
