Ra Calls for Return to Previous LIRR Schedule, Urges Leadership to Reverse Service Cuts

A Statement by Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square)

“I’ve heard from numerous constituents that overcrowding on the LIRR continues to be a serious problem. It’s unacceptable. I’ve also been told the mobile app that supposedly monitors train capacity is not functioning properly. That’s also unacceptable. The answer is simple- reverse the service cuts and return to the schedule that was working. We’ve come too far in the fight against this virus to abandon social distancing and ask people who are trying to return to work safely to jam into train cars inches from other commuters.

“The MTA already received $8 billion in federal funds to offset pandemic revenue losses. They’re slated to receive $6.5 billion more when the house authorizes the relief bill. They can return to the previous schedule, and they must,” said Ra.
