Finch Pushes Needed Protections, New Reforms for Taxpayers

A statement by Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I-Springport)
June 7, 2017

“I am pleased to support bills authored by Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks (R,C-Macedon) and Sen. John DeFrancisco to restore accountability, transparency and meaningful oversight to the state’s economic development programs. Real economic development strengthens the middle class. Too often, the administration is funneling taxpayer-funded contracts to favored political donors and wealthy, connected insiders. Real economic development creates good jobs for working people and not just hand-outs for developers. Smart, targeted investments that are creating good jobs must be overseen by the comptroller. Many other ineffective programs can be eliminated altogether and the savings must be passed on to taxpayers. We’ll know the difference when the administration’s economic development arm begins to report on its progress in a transparent and timely fashion.”
