Assemblymember Bronson: Please Join With Me to Remember Fallen Heroes

As Memorial Day approaches, it is important to take time out of our busy schedules and remember those heroes we have lost. Memorial Day is more than a day off from work or an unofficial kickoff to summer, it’s a day when we should all come together and say thank you to those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our safety. Please join me in attending the Town of Henrietta Memorial Day Parade this Sunday at 1 p.m. The parade begins at the Rush Henrietta Senior High School and concludes at the Henrietta Town Hall Reviewing Stand at Memorial Park. But if you can’t make this parade and you are interested in honoring local heroes and participating in Memorial Day celebrations, there are a couple of other parades being held in our community, including:

  • City of Rochester Memorial Day Parade
    Monday, May 27
    10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Strathallan Park to North Plymouth Avenue
  • Town of Chili Memorial Day Parade
    Monday, May 27
    8:00 a.m.
Granell Drive to the Chili Senior Center
I also encourage you to visit the Greater Rochester Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Highland Park South to pay respects to those who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. There are thousands of American soldiers abroad who put their lives at stake every day for us. As we continue the process of ending the war in Afghanistan and bringing our soldiers home, we must not forget the bravery of those still there, along with those on duty throughout America and the world, and the ones we’ve lost along the way. While the unimaginable grief of losing a loved one can never be measured, their families should know that they were not lost in vain. Not only have these brave soldiers left their mark on their families, they’ve left a mark on our nation.
