Assemblymember Bronson: Assembly Resolution Honors Women Veterans

“Today, the Assembly passed a resolution proclaiming June 12 as Women Veterans Recognition Day in New York State (K.1346). The resolution commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Act of 1948, which allowed women to enlist as permanent members of the armed forces. Since then, women have continued to serve with honor and distinction. New York is home to 58,855 women who have served our great nation.1

“The courageous heroes who put their lives on the line deserve recognition today and every day. Transitioning back to civilian life often presents challenges. They’ve made immense sacrifices and deserve equal access to the resources they bravely earned. This day is an opportunity to educate our communities about the selfless women who’ve been invaluable to our military, show our respect and gratitude for their unwavering commitment to our country and fight for resources and support for these heroes.”
