Gallahan Slams ‘Emergency Powers Bill’ That Actually Further Empowers Governor

“After rejecting an amendment that would fully remove the governor’s emergency powers, what passed today in the Assembly did no such thing. It should have been called a contract extension, because what this bill actually does is remove the April 30, 2021 end date on his original emergency powers and allows them to continue indefinitely. To think the governor even had a say in this bill is ridiculous, and I am incredibly disappointed we couldn’t simply do the right thing New Yorkers expect us to after all we’ve learned about the governor’s wrongdoings.”
