Assemblyman Dinowitz Helps Restore Gas to 500 West 235th Street

After 7 months, gas service at 500 West 235th Street has finally been restored. The building had been without gas service since October 26th, 2016 and residents have had to make do without cooking on a stovetop since that time.

Assemblyman Dinowitz’s office began working with the building’s management company, the Department of Buildings, and Con Edison attempting to get the service restored since December. Earlier in May it was revealed that despite half a year without gas and claims that service would soon be restored, the building had still not passed several inspections by DOB needed before Con Edison could restore gas. On May 10th, Assemblyman Dinowitz wrote a letter to the building’s management demanding that they complete repair work on gas service in the building as soon as possible given the length of time the building had gone without gas.

“I am pleased that this situation was rectified and the residents of the 500 West 235th Street were able to get the service they needed for so long. I would like to thank Con Edison, and the Department of Buildings for being so cooperative and keeping in communication with my staff to get this situation resolved as quickly as possible. I would also like to thank my excellent Director of Constituent Relations, Teresa Colon, for working on this case tirelessly for the last several months,” said Assemblyman Dinowitz.
