"We understand more than ever before what this means to individuals. We cannot be silent to that. We cannot then back away from the opportunity to say that, justice may not have been done and that we should go back and try to correct that injustice. And accord individuals who have suffered this way, with an opportunity to be heard and looked at as total human beings," said Assemblyman Jeffrion Aubry while explaining his vote on legislation he authored to expand upon the existing provisions of alternative sentencing for domestic violence cases and provide judges with discretion in sentencing.
