Errigo Alerts Public Of First Deadline For Pistol Permit Recertification
Assemblyman Joseph A. Errigo (R,C,I,Ref-Conesus) is reminding all pistol permit holders in New York State that in order to comply with Gov. Cuomo’s SAFE Act, all pistol permits issued before January 15, 2013 will need to be recertified by January 31, 2018. If your pistol permit was certified on or after January 15, 2013, you will need to recertify five years after the date of its issuance. Following recertification, all pistol permits are required to be certified every five years thereafter.
“As the first deadline for pistol permit recertification quickly approaches, it is critical that all pistol permit holders, as well as gun owners everywhere, are aware of the new laws under Gov. Cuomo’s SAFE Act,” said Errigo. “Unfortunately, the SAFE Act is law, and law-abiding gun owners must be aware of the deadlines that come with it or risk violating New York’s burdensome gun laws.”
In order to recertify your pistol permit, you must complete the “State of New York Pistol/Revolver License Recertification Form,” also known as PPB-2, which can be found here or by visiting https://troopers.ny.gov/Firearms/PPB-2.pdf. Click “Online Certification” to submit your form online and to check the status of your recertification.
