Assemblyman Lentol Announces More Resources Coming to 94th Precinct
Assemblyman Joseph R. Lentol (D-North Brooklyn) announced today that he received a letter from NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill in response to a letter he sent requesting additional police resources around McGolrick Park and the 94th Precinct.
Lentol’s request was in response to a murder that occurred next to the park, swastikas drawn on tables in the park, and several complaints from constituents of harassment in and around the park.
Commissioner O’Neill’s letter said, “Captain Peter Rose, Commanding Officer of the 94th Precinct, has currently assigned a fixed post for the one square block that encompasses McGolrick Park. In addition, we recently upgraded the surveillance cameras in the park to livestream video from the park directly to the 94th Precinct. The precinct has just received six new recruits from the Police Academy and will be receiving an additional seven officers from the recruit class scheduled to graduate in December.”
“A young man lost his life – a life can never be replaced and we know how deeply he will be missed. We must not let that happen ever again. These additional resources are the first steps to preventing senseless crimes. I look forward to a safer McGolrick Park, but these additional officers will certainly help all of Greenpoint and Williamsburg,” Lentol said.
