As part of his 2017 Summer Reading Challenge, which encourages students to read 15 minutes per day during summer break, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,TCN-Deerpark) visited Montebello Elementary School last week to explain the program to students and encourage their participation.

“The importance of reading at a young age when students are developing fundamental education skills cannot be overstated,” Brabenec said. “Although many students attend camps and spend more time with family and friends over the summer break, my summer reading challenge only requires a fifteen minute commitment for forty days over the summer.”

Parents and students looking to obtain a Summer Reading brochure can stop by Brabenec’s District Office located at 28 North Main St., Suite 2 in Florida from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call the office at (845) 544-7551.

“Students who complete the program will receive a personalized certificate from me and will go into next year knowing they are ahead of the curve and ready to receive even higher marks than the year before,” Brabenec continued. “I encourage all students in the 98th Assembly District to participate in this great opportunity and discover the miraculous world reading has to offer.”
