Brabenec To Sponsor Bill Accelerating Creation Of The Town Of Palm Tree

Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,TCN-Deerpark) announced today that he will sponsor legislation that would accelerate the creation of the Town of Palm Tree. If the legislation becomes law, the Town of Palm Tree in Orange County would be required to meet and finalize a budget for the new Town’s fiscal year by 2019. If it is determined that any redrawn school district lines causes a loss in property tax revenue to the Monroe-Woodbury School District exceeding $500,000, that School District will become eligible for additional State Aid.

“This is a win-win for the residents of the town of Monroe and the residents that will live in Palm Tree,” Brabenec said. “This legislation ensures that in the case the District loses significant property-tax revenue, the district will see additional state aid in order to preserve the high quality of education we provide in Orange County. I am hopeful this legislation will be passed by both houses by the end of session in June.”
