Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal Calls on New York State Senate to Return to Albany to Pass Speed Camera Legislation

New York, NY – “There are many things open for debate in Albany, but children’s safety should not be one of them. Speed cameras in school zones save lives; it’s just that simple. It is appalling that the New York State Senate Majority left Albany for vacation without taking action to secure the safety of New York’s students. Speed safety cameras encourage safe driving in school zones. No one should be speeding anywhere, but it takes special kind of recklessness to speed on a block teeming with young children and their parents. The New York State Assembly overwhelmingly voted to extend the speed camera program, set to expire on July 25th, before the end of the legislative session in June. I call on the New York State Senate to return to Albany immediately to do the job they left undone in June.”
