Byrnes Deems New Gun Law Overly Restrictive

A statement from Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes (R,C-Caledonia) on Assembly Bill 2686-A.

“The Majority is flaunting their power in the Legislature by passing another needless gun control bill. This bill would require gun owners to safely store their firearms in a safe storage deposit if children under the age of 16 are in the home. This bill blurs lines for outdoorsmen, children with hunting licenses and residents who rely on their firearms for self defense. New York State has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country and state Majority remains oblivious to the rational solutions to gun violence. This bill is problematic and overly restrictive for the hunters and avid outdoorsmen in upstate New York.”
